ANNOUNCES ROHS COMPLIANCE OF AUDIO/VIDEO OVER CAT 5 BALUNS
Middleton,
WI- Intelix LLC, U.S. manufacturer of audio/video equipment
and software, recently announced their entire line of audio/video
over Cat 5 balun products will be RoHS and WEEE compliant
as of August 1, 2006.
RoHS (Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances)
and WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) are general
directives enacted by the European Union to protect human
and environmental health by restricting the use of hazardous
substances in electrical and electronic equipment. RoHS bans
the use of lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated
biphenyls (PBB), and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE)
in all equipment sold into the European Union.
Similar legislature has been enacted by California: the Electronic
Waste Recycling Act (EWRA) requires some electrical and electronic
equipment sold into the state of California after January
1, 2007, to conform to the RoHS and WEEE standards.
To comply, Intelix has re-engineered their popular line of
audio/video over Cat 5 products to contain RoHS and WEEE compliant
components.
“As of August 1, we are extremely pleased to announce our
baluns will conform fully with the RoHS and WEEE standards,”
announced Cameron Smith, Intelix Sales and Marketing Manager.
“We simply ask that all purchases requiring RoHS and WEEE
compliant parts specify compliance at the time of order, as
we are transitioning our current inventory.”
“Intelix is committed to doing responsible business, and
we applaud our component suppliers and customers for helping
us move forward in an environmentally friendly manner.”
Intelix offers the broadest line of baluns in the professional
AV marketplace, including solutions for audio, multiple formats
of video, VGA, DVI, HDMI, and PS2. In addition to baluns,
