M Series E
Turns Heads and Goes Wireless
Released in late April, the Intelix M
Series E audio matrix mixer is turning heads with its
debut installation.
The M Series E was recently installed in a premier financial
corporate headquarters by Muzak-Columbus, Ohio, as a replacement for a
conventional matrix mixer. "Unfortunately, the original system had only
one input to one output, and our client found they needed more
versatility," explains Dan Bails, Systems Sales Engineer for Muzak. "The
Intelix M Series offers multiple inputs to multiple outputs, as well as
TCP/IP connectivity for remote monitoring and control."
Intelix designed the M Series E specifically for comprehensive,
extensive off- and onsite monitoring, diagnostics, and control of audio
in a matrix mixing application. An advanced Flash ROM based CPU card
provides serial command messaging via RS232, TCP/IP LAN, and the
internet; and M Series E graphically-based Designer Software includes a
unique real-time Event Scheduler, allowing facility managers to program
repetitive or unique events in a comprehensive platform.
"We especially like the ease of Intelix M Series Designer
Software—it’s just click on a box and go," adds Dan Bails. "In fact,
Kris, the facility manager at the install, walked through most of the
setup and design himself."
The 24 input by 8 output M Series E controls the audio in the
constantly changing environment of four corporate training rooms—a
sophisticated challenge for any matrix mixer and building manager. To
succeed this challenge, Kris relies on the M Series E's built-in presets
and his company's wireless network. “Our building has a wireless
network,” explains Kris, “to which Muzak was able to connect the M
Series E. This is extremely convenient because I am able to trigger any
audio preset wirelessly on my laptop from anywhere in the building. They
just call me up from wherever I might be and I make the changes on the
fly.”
Ultimately, the Intelix M Series E is ideal for this premier
corporate training application; the multiple connectivity options
facilitate the wireless network, and the sophisticated M Series E
crosspoint mixing architecture facilitates user presets and definable
multiple inputs to multiple outputs. However, as demonstrated by Kris
the facility manager, Intelix Designer Software manages the
sophisticated control through a graphically-based, comprehensive
platform designed for building managers. Considering the installation
took only half of one day for hook-up and test, the M Series E has
satisfactorily demonstrated it will be turning more heads as the
installations roll in.
